Our Story
Bart's Cafe of Greenfield is an eatery and gathering place that represents the best of ourselves and our community. We offer a high quality menu at reasonable prices. As you get to know us, you will recognize how our values about quality products & service and responsible stewardship combine to make Bart's Cafe of Greenfield the kind of place you want to frequent. We believe in community, environmental sustainability, promoting artistic expression, and social equity.
We believe that we are all members of a community and have a responsibility to each other and the world we live in. The more we work collectively, the stronger we are as a community. We've built our beliefs into our business practices:
- We source our food from local suppliers whenever possible, supporting sustainable food growing and producing practices
- We sell and support fair trade products and organizations
- We take the "green" in
- Our cafe space respects our diverse community: it is kid-friendly, with safe space for breast-feeding, lgbtq, youth, artists and goofballs
- We support our local artists and musicians by displaying their work, as a venue to jam, for poetry readings, and more
- We strive to provide a liveable wage for our employees
- We in non-profit and co-operative organizations that enrich our community
Bart's Cafe of Greenfield was opened on May 11, 2007 by Al Sax and Sue Schwartz who have been working together as a life-long endeavor. Their children were raised on Bart's Ice Cream so they know the delight that comes with having ice cream in your life! Add Snow's flavors, a great breakfast and lunch menu, and home made cookies baked fresh at the cafe, and life just can't get much better than that. Al and Sue are proud to have created a warm and welcoming place for all of you who visit us and support our cafe.
